My Usual Policies

Cheating/Plagiarism - 0 for that work and I need to report it to admins for further action.  In general, that work will not be able to be made up.  If you are unsure it what you want to do is cheating or plagiarism, please ask your staff first!!!

Soft Skills - Please see the Soft Skills Rubric in the "School and Classroom Expectations" slide of the syllabus.  If needed, discuss with the class what category a soft skill or behavior would fit under.  For example, cleaning your desk at the end of class would fit under Prepared (having classroom clean and ready for the next group of students).

Personal Electronic Devices - Please put your personal devices (phones, portable gaming consoles, personal tablets, etc.) out of sight or in the classroom phone pocket.  Make sure notification sounds and lights are off before you put them away!  Smart watches can be left on your wrist so you can see the time or monitor your body metrics, but notifications and messaging need to be disabled. Personal electronics should not be used during class time, including free time if you finish your lesson and/or classwork early.  You must have special prior permission if you need to make/receive a call or using a video or text chat during class time.  Parents and responsible caretakers know how to contact the HS office in emergencies and you will be reached if needed. In addition, any staff can tell you to reposition your seat so we can make sure you are working on your TSD iPad or using the internet safely. You need to get permission from HS admins before you can use your personal laptop in the classroom.

Tardiness/Absences - Please see the Soft Skills Rubric and the bullet points below.

  • Excused Absence - You will still get 10 points for the day on the Soft Skills Rubric.  Your assigned work for that day will have a 1 put down in your Schoology gradebook. That way, your quarter grade will be calculated correctly with the missing work. You should complete the work within two school days after you return, and the hard deadline for that work is still one calendar week unless posted differently in Schoology.
  • Unexcused Absence - 0 point for the day's Soft Skills and any assigned work that day.  You cannot make up the work except for special permission given together by the teacher and admins.
  • Tardiness - 3 tardies in one week will have an incident report filled.  Follow the TSD student handbook for making up class time, which may include in-school suspension (ISS).
 

Field trips - you cannot have an unexcused absence the school day before a scheduled field trip.  If the trip is required for class grade and you are not allowed to go because of that or another reason, you will receive a 1 in the Schoology gradebook. You will need to discuss with your teacher how to make up the work. The teacher's decision on how to make up the trip grade is final.
