Grading Policy/Syllabus

Soft Skills (10%):  Coming to class prepared and ready to work. Bringing the required materials. Respecting and participating in class.

Tests/Quizzes/Projects (40%): Tests will be announced in advance. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.  Group and/or Individual projects including a research paper, giving presentations, etc.

Assignments (45%): Working on your class work, and homework. Assignments given for homework are expected to be completed at home or at the dorm.

Missing Work: Students who do not hand in assignments on time will receive a 1% for the assignment. The students will have five school days to complete their missing work. Any late assignment will be graded with an average of the two grades (the average of 0 and the grade assigned for the work, i.e., 0 + 100% = 50%).

Make-Up Work: When returning from an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to check with the teacher about the work the student missed during their excused absence (illness, field trip, or athletics).

When you are absent for a number of days, you will have the same number of days to make up your missing assignments. The grade for any missing work will be documented by 1% tentatively until you turn them in.

If the student is absent on the day an assignment is due, s/he must turn in the assignment on the following day s/he returns.

If the student is absent on the day of a test or quiz, s/he must be prepared to take the missed quiz or test on the day of return from the absence unless the absence from school was extensive.

The student will receive a zero on the assignments/tests if the absence is unexcused.

No extra credits will be given.

Plagiarism/Cheating will not be tolerated and result in a zero and possibly ISS.
