Salute!

This is my 8th school year at TSD.  My name is Eduardo or Lalo, but everyone calls me Felipe at work.  I am a Culinary Teacher Assistant & Catering Coordinator at Texas School for the Deaf.

This is my second year teaching Culinary Arts as a Long-Term Sub.  My passion is to inspire others to cook with creativity and to show that healthy and delicious international food can be incredibly flavorful such as African, Mediterranean, Greek, Irish, Armenian, Ugandan, Mexican, Asian Indian, American, and others.  Please come visit our Culinary Arts classroom sometime and see if you can try a sample of tasty dishes.  They are very good and our students would feel proud.

Another passion of mine is to travel to different places and try out authentic international food.
Back when I was a child, I helped my family’s restaurant business cooking authentic Spanish, Italian and Mexican food from scratch.  My family and I are Italian - I am very proud.  It was my sister who taught me to cook sweet pastries.

I have 41 years of experience working as a personal chef, in-home personal chef, cooking instructor and recipe developer.  It has always and continues to be my passion - thanks to my family for introducing me to the field!

I grew up in northeastern of Mexico across the Texas border.  My heart is 'TexMex', but in Italian blood!

I have a Bachelor degree in Graphic Design and Advertising in Mexico and then attended University of North Texas (UNT) to earn a certificate in Job Coaching.  Upon receiving my certification, I worked in the Lower Rio Grande Valley in southern Texas before relocating to Texas School for the Deaf as a Job Coach for many years.

Prior to pursuing a higher education, I operated my own business as a Deaf Interpreter in both Mexican Sign Language and American Sign Language.  I also provided workshops and interpreting services in courts, schools and hospital settings for 15 years.

As a native signer and speaker of Mexican Sign Language and Spanish, I also enjoy teaching classes online.

Eduardo, Ci vediamo!
