Joshua (TSD high school junior) develops his first computer program by participation in the Hour of Code.

This event reaches tens of millions of students in 180+ countries ranging from elementary to college students.

At TSD teachers Paul Stropko, Richard Norton, and Dawn Kidd are providing opportunities for students to participate in their classrooms during the Hour of Code week (Dec 8-12).   The students in Mr. Stropko’s physics class had never written a line of code before but by the end of the hour they had all completed several code writing tutorials and were moving ahead with more challenging tasks.

A variety of Hour of Code tutorials are available in over 30 languages at HourOfCode.com.  No experience needed.  Computer programming skills will help students in many different careers by nurturing problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.
