Athena Maxwell: ACCESS Job Coach

Hello! My name is Athena Maxwell and I am a Job Coach within the ACCESS I Program at the Texas School for the Deaf.  I have worked at TSD since the beginning of 2015. I love working in the ACCESS Department because of what our program is all about. We encourage personal success in the work place and allow our students to gain valuable professional and educational experiences through their time in the program. As a job coach, my responsibility is to ensure my students develop the tools and resources needed to be successful in all aspects relating to employment. Independence and success is the goal and I am here to ensure our students achieve it.
During my first year in the ACCESS Program, I created the "ACCESS Dress for Success" Fashion Show where our students were able to get a "hands-on" learning experience for how to dress professionally and appropriately in their professional and personal lives. It is a fun and educational annual event for both students and staff.
My educational background consists of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with 3 minors, including American Sign Language.
One of my all time favorite past times (while commuting) is listening to books on tape. I also love to cook and enjoy my flavorful creations.
