Hello and Welcome

I would like to share a little bit about myself. I have worked at TSD for the past 12 years, 9 of those years teaching in the classroom before moving into an administrative role. My undergrad is in Communication Disorders Deaf Education from Lamar University in Beaumont. I received my Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University. I moved to Austin about 13 years ago. Before moving to Austin I worked at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind as a Paraprofessional.

Our Vison and Misson in the High School Department are:

Vision: Our TSD graduates will be: Self-directed learners able to identify as well as use their unique strengths and interests to set and attain purposeful goals, advocate for themselves and others, and positively engage within their communities.

Mission: HS/CTE department will implement Culturally Responsive Teaching Framework of increasing schoolwide cultural awareness, building learning partnerships, strengthening student information processing, and establishing a learning environment that cultivates a strong community of learners and stakeholders.

I believe that all students can learn no matter their background or ability. I strive to support the teachers and department to achieve this goal. It takes a team to support the students to Learn, Grow and Belong. We cannot do this without the parent's support and help.
