hello welcome to the toy 2020-21 end-of-year academic awards for Middle School I am Brian sypek Middle School principal before we start recognizing students and their Awards what are recognized if you 14 people this year has been a tough year for many of us in regards to the pandemic no back in the spring in March changed there was only a couple months left of school and we just progressed right on and finished it out but this year starting in August and working our way to may we have seen some new challenges in the classroom school with home and family the first group I'd like to recognize are the teachers for their hard work and commitment to providing a quality education for our students I'd like to recognize students their hard work and commitment they kept going even though they had to transition to an online classroom that wasn't easy they had virtual classes Zoom schoology which was a new system will use this year all of that was complicated for students but they were really committed to keep on moving so I want to come in then for that for family support at home I know many of you have jobs and have other things that you need to attend to but you supported your children for their academic goals and that's a huge responsibility to recognize you for your efforts in that I want to recognize our support team counselors Behavior staff SEL staff secretaries AIDS everyone contributed to make if you're successful I for one maybe you'll agree with me but I am looking forward to the fall I'm looking forward to August the back to normal maybe taking our masks off we don't know yet but we're looking forward to everyone being back on campus so we can get a sense of normalcy in our everyday lives alright we're ready to start the awards enjoy both teams did a great job now we'd like to recognize all of the students and the award goes 2 this award goes to and this award goes to and the award goes to and this award goes to this award goes to and the award goes to and the award goes to and this board goes to Matt Ward goes to the math award goes to the math award goes to the award goes to this award goes to the award goes to the science award goes to the award goes the science award goes to the award goes to the award goes to this award goes to the award goes to this award 2 this award goes to this award goes to the award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to now this award goes to this award goes to and the award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to and this award goes to the award goes to this award goes to award goes to and the award goes to this award goes to this award is presented to this award goes to this award goes to this award goes to and now this award goes to it goes to does a goes to and this one is prevented to this award goes to this award goes to and this award is the best effort award an effort means the person has tried their best has stayed it worked hard never gives up I asked students and teacher and they all agreed that this person showed all of those things let's she was want me award the next award resiliency dancing meme if a student faces a situation that is a serious Challenge and navigate through that situation and comes out at the end successfully both of you are very resilient there are some students cool show Extra resiliency picture Improvement through the years they've come to school they have not had a lot of reports from teachers about concerns or paying attention or doing their work in participating and this award goes to the 8th grade who's just been persistent through the year who is really showing improvements even so they've been a virtual student even so they've been in Zoom all day from August till now the 8th grade all agreed that this award is very well deserved let's see who's won cuz next award is the ideal student award you focus on 8th grade students who have a good attitude are very motivated about school have good at and good grades they asked good questions they do their work. Class work they take their exams and really give their best effort and sometimes do extra this is a student who always wants to challenge and is always looking for more and the award goes to what's the next award it's for the second highest GPA for an 8th grade student and that student is the next award is for the student the 8th grade student that has highest GPA and that is for the whole year August to May and the student with the highest GPA hi everyone now it's time for Middle School medical wards I wanted to talk a little bit about this year and the challenges that we've had we had covid-19 and quarantine and school got postponed for a few weeks and then the app calendars changed several things have been beyond our control with our cats League some schools have participated some haven't but we have been blessed to be able to go ahead with fall Sports being cross country and volleyball we also had a football clinic and those went along just fine and I look back and think about all the athletes playing with their masks and complaining about that and then coaches trying it out in oh yes it is hard so yes and you guys remember when we had the volleyball and had to Pump It Up and tape it and following protocol systems and if we didn't follow the systems we couldn't play sports so we all followed and then doing temperature checks in the gym when people arrive and then in Winter following those protocols again so I really want to thank you boys and girls for your motivation and participation parents I want to thank you for your support and the school for its support now I'm really excited to do the awards and certificates the first is athletic participation award and it's a new sign certificate that is really beautiful I know that you're going to like it when you see your certificate you'll see on there where it says athletic participation award it will show the name of the support of the sport that you were involved so maybe basketball or whatever you were and it'll show you our coach if you were in more than one sport it'll show them all so this is the athletic participation award another recognition is athlete of the month so we have that for fall winter and spring and the coaches got together each month starting it set and look at the athletes who came to practice who were motivated who learned they weren't necessarily the best player on the team that they had great attitudes they accepted feedback and coaching and we made recommendations and made our picks we did the same for winter we continue to discuss athletes and then in Spring so we will show you fall winter and spring of the month now another important Awards is the iron Rangers award that means a player that played more than one sport so maybe fall winter and spring they played Sports throughout the year maybe three or four Sports so you'll see a list of names of boys and girls who participated in at least three Sports nower a special award is the Iron Ranger of Honor and that means an athlete who participated in sports fall winter and spring plus showed Excellence with A's and B's the honor roll and a 3.5 GPA so we looked at all the athletes from eighth grade and we picked to they were able to participate in sports throughout year they had excellent academics no behavioral issues good role models and I'm proud to announce these two athletes wow watching music Awards and different students winning individual Awards it's just great it makes me realize that this year has been very successful I know many of you feel August to May felt like it took forever but here we are every one of you should feel a sense of appreciation for what we maybe take for granted we have a great team in Middle School teachers support staff families students again we I know that this year was not easy we're done the last day of school your summer begins I know many of you feel like yes I deserve this break and you do I just want to say thank you for a good year I look forward to seeing many of you back in the fall an eighth graders good luck in high school I know you'll do well have a great summer everyone bye bye
