A Glimpse of Me...

Greetings!

I am a native Texan.  I went to mainstream school in Houston, private school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and eventually graduated from Texas School for the Deaf.  I especially love living in Austin because of the large deaf community and the town itself.  Originally, I did not plan on teaching at TSD until I was recruited right before I graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. This fall of 2023, it will be my 35th year working here, and I can say that I am proud to be a part of the TSD family!

Teaching Health Education classes has been my passion because I want to help students build healthy behaviors and become a self-advocate for their healthy choices.  This fall semester, Child Development class will be my first time to teach because it’s something new that I wanted to try.

Facts about me… I enjoy hiking, meditating, and gardening. I have a deaf four-year-old Australian Cattle dog, or Blue Heeler. Yes, she understands my communication in sign language and loves meeting people.  I also have a travel bug. Out of many countries worldwide, Morocco is my favorite.  It’s my 4th African country that I have been to.  One of my favorite quotes is: "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." by Augustine of Hippo.
