Transportation - Non-Residential Day Students
(Please see Residential Homegoing section if your child lives in the dorms and you need info about their transportation)
The TSD Transportation Department serves day students living in the Austin ISD appraisal district area. This eligibility can be determined by looking up your address on the Travis County Tax Office website using the link below: http://www.traviscad.org/property_search.html
From this screen click on “Property Search” - Note there a button to access search tips as well on this page that might be helpful if you run into difficulties.
Search your property by address or by owner name (note – apartment complexes should be looked up by address).
Once your address location comes up, click on “View Details” and then “Taxing Jurisdiction”. The School District your address is in will be listed there. If it says Austin ISD, then your child is eligible for day student bus service to and from your home address and TSD
IMPORTANT NOTE: If your address shows that you live in a school district other than Austin ISD, you will need to contact THAT district’s transportation office to discuss eligibility for their services to and from TSD. You may also wish to contact the TSD Admissions Office for procedural information about having your child referred to TSD for educational placement from your home district.
With safety as our main goal, TSD Transportation provides bus service to and from school for eligible students as well as, transportation and vehicles for field trips, work program placements, athletic events and other school/social/recreational activities. Our services span the school year and summer sessions, as we strive to meet the needs of an increasing and varied population of deaf and hard of hearing students attending Texas School for the Deaf.
The Transportation Office is located at the south end of campus just inside the Elizabeth Street Gate. Our office is in the building labeled Maintenance Compound.
