Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year! My name is Adam Membrey and I will be your child’s teacher this year. My paraprofessional is Terri Gross. Our room is located in the SND building, number 158. Please feel free to come and visit us anytime - just let us know ahead of time so that we can inform the office to expect you.
I have taught in the Special Needs Department at TSD for the past 3 years. Teaching in Elementary has been a great fit for me – I like to have fun with the kids and be very imaginative, but we also have high expectations that we follow every day. We take great pride in working in this Special Needs Department. It’s an incredible environment for our students to grow in! This year, we will be trying some new things. One of those things is using Book Creator on the iPads. The students will be able to create books on their iPads that they can take home to share with you. This is very exciting stuff!
The students will be in class with me for the majority of their classes such as Language, Math, Social Studies, and Community. They will go to P.E. and Science for electives. As always, we will work on a variety of units throughout the year including Health & Nutrition, Travel & Transportation, and Community . We will be using the unit format to focus on all of your child’s IP objectives.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns at 512-462-5251 (Special Needs office). My planning times are: Monday-Wednesday 11:30-12:15pm, Monday-Thursday 2:15-3:00pm, and Fridays between 10:30-11:15am and 12:45-1:30pm. You can also reach me anytime through email at [email protected]
The students will bring home daily communication logbooks, which will include information about activities during the week and any comments or questions concerning your child. I will also be sending homework home at least 3 days out of the week. Please initial that you have read the pages and please feel free to communicate any comments or questions you have as well. I have attached a copy of my weekly schedule for your convenience.
I am looking forward to a great year with you and your child!
