TSD to Host the 2014 Southwest Regional Academic Bowl




What is the Academic Bowl Competition?

The competition involves high school teams from state schools and programs serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, and it consists of a question and answer game of general knowledge and quick recall. Questions are drawn from the categories of Social Studies, Language and Literature, Science and Technology, Mathematics, The Arts, Deaf Studies, Current Events, and Pop Culture, Leisure and Sports. There are 5 regional competitions across the nation and the top 4 teams from each regional competition including Southwest will have the opportunity to compete for the national championship which will be held at Gallaudet University in Washington DC.

How many teams are competing?

We will have a total of 12 teams from across the southwest region including our TSD team participating in the regional competition.

Will there be an admission fee?

No, the competition will be free and open to the public.  

If I’m unable to watch the games, how do I keep track of the match results and scores?

Gallaudet University will provide match results and scores on its official Academic Bowl website

Will there be food available for the audience?

No, the meals and refreshments provided on site are restricted to competing teams and committee members only.
