Austin, Texas – October 18, 2022 – Everyone at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) is gearing up for the school’s annual homecoming celebration this weekend at the iconic 167-year-old south Austin campus, located at 1102 South Congress Avenue.

The campus is already abuzz with excited students participating in daily themed costume contests and spirit competitions.

It all leads up to the school-wide pep rally at 1:30 p.m., Friday, October 21, with the entire campus, draped in blue and white, celebrating together ahead of the biggest day of the entire year.

TSD Superintendent, Claire Bugen, says “we are so excited to be able to resume our annual homecoming traditions face to face this year with the students interacting, the fans filling the stands, and everyone together again.

            “It’s something we’ve all missed.”

Starting early Saturday morning, October 22, with a full day of events open to the public, TSD welcomes alumni, friends, families and neighbors to the festivities, kicking off at 10:00 a.m., with the homecoming booth festival until 4:00 p.m., including a TSD history presentation at 1:00 p.m., campus and museum tours, food, games and arts vendors.

At 1:00 p.m., the TSD JV Lady Rangers volleyball team faces the Austin Royals in TSD’s Seeger Gym, followed by the varsity match-up at 2:00 p.m.

The homecoming football pre-game festivities begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. on TSD’s Rudolph Gamblin field, with kick-off at 5:30 p.m. when the Rangers meet the Oklahoma School for the Deaf on the gridiron, and crowning of TSD’s 2022 homecoming royalty at half-time.
