FLEET FEET DONATES RUNNING SHOES TO STUDENTS

Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Austin, Texas September 20, 2022 – The high-school cross-country team at Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) is in for a real surprise today at track practice, when at 4:00 p.m., Ari Perez from Fleet Feet Austin delivers brand new running shoes the company has donated to the team.

While inspiring long-distance runners, the TSD team has been ill-equipped to compete among their peers. Some even determined to get the job done wearing their everyday school shoes or gym shoes.

With distances of two miles for girls, and three miles for boys, cross-country running can add obvious strain to any runner. But especially so if wearing the wrong pair of shoes.

TSD team coach, Joe Cardenas, knew he had to do something.

“Running in the right pair of shoes can prevent injuries and help to correct one’s running form,” he says.

Cardenas reached out to Fleet Feet Austin for help, and Perez was immediately onboard.

Also an avid runner himself who is very involved with the area running community, Perez appreciates coach looking out for his team.

“I compliment Coach Cardenas for reaching out to ensure his team is properly outfitted.

“Fleet Feet Austin wishes the best for the TSD Cross Country team and we’re humbled to highlight their commitment to the season.”

Cross-country season is underway, and runs through the end of October.

When TSD hits the course this Thursday for their first meet - with new, proper equipment - anything can be possible.
