FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF SET TO HOST FIRST DEAF AUTHORS BOOK FESTIVAL

Friday-Saturday, May 6-7, 2022

Austin, Texas The first Deaf Authors Book Festival (DABF) comes to Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), May 6-7, and features 25 books written by 21 Deaf authors from all parts of the United States.

Free to the public, DABF brings together a diverse group of Deaf, hard of hearing, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC authors displaying their books for sale in a variety of genres, certain to appeal to the Deaf culture or history buff, the sci-fi geek, the sports fanatic, magic lovers, and even RVers.

Over two days, book signings, panel discussions, and informal chats fill the schedule of events previewed on DABF’s Facebook page.

Reflecting on preparations for the event, co-host Dr. Steve C. Baldwin says, “our years of preparation come to fruition when we welcome these incredible Deaf authors to Texas.

“We look forward to the success of this festival and the awareness it will bring to the Deaf and hearing community.”

Interpreting and support services at the event are available for those needing assistance, and a certificate of attendance can be requested for teachers and college students who attend.
