Superintendent update on COVID-19 and TSD

 

We want to inform you that a Student Life employee was test-confirmed for COVID-19. The staff member was last on campus Wednesday, October 28 and tested positive on Thursday, October 29.

 

Determining the degree of “close contact” the employee had with students and co-workers was difficult to assess due to the nature of the work with students in our dorms. We believe that staff and students were masked at all times but we cannot be absolutely certain that 6 feet of social distancing was 100% implemented. In an abundance of caution, we are contacting families and staff that we believe may have had close contact with the individual and requesting that they self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to school.

 

The student’s principal(s) and teachers have been informed that the students involved can return to remote online instruction until they complete the quarantine period. We look forward to having them back on campus soon.

 

We remind all staff and families to continue to conduct daily screenings for symptoms the CDC has determined may be associated with COVID-19 and to remain at home if you are experiencing the following:

• Fever at / above 100.0°F
• New uncontrolled cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Shortness of breath
• Severe muscle aches
• Severe headaches (especially with fever
• New loss of taste or smell
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting or abdominal pain
• Chills
• Sore throat

 

We remind all staff to wear your mask at all times and maintain 6 ft of social distancing whenever and wherever possible. Thank you for your support in these efforts and your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we work together to promote the health and well-being of our TSD community.

Queremos informarle que a un empleado de Vida Estudiantil se le confirmó la prueba de COVID-19. El miembro del personal estuvo en el plantel por última vez el miércoles, 28 de octubre y dio positivo el jueves, 29 de octubre.

 

La determinación del grado de “contacto cercano” que el empleado tuvo con los estudiantes y compañeros de trabajo fue difícil de evaluar debido a la naturaleza del trabajo con los estudiantes en nuestros dormitorios.

 

Creemos que el personal y los estudiantes estuvieron con cubre bocas en todo momento, pero no podemos estar absolutamente seguros de que los 6 pies de distanciamiento social se implementaron al 100%. Con mucha precaución, nos estamos comunicando con las familias y el personal que creemos que pueden haber tenido un contacto cercano con la persona y solicitando que se pongan en cuarentena por 14 días antes de regresar a la escuela.

 

Se informó a los directores y maestros que los estudiantes involucrados pueden regresar a la instrucción remota en línea hasta que completen el período de cuarentena. Esperamos tenerlos de regreso en el plantel pronto.

 

Recordamos a todo el personal y a las familias que continúen realizando exámenes diarios de los síntomas que el CDC ha determinado que pueden estar asociados con COVID-19, y que permanezcan en casa si tienen lo siguiente:

• Fiebre de 100.0 ° F o más alta
• Nueva tos incontrolada
• Dificultad para respirar
• Falta de aire
• Dolores musculares severos
• Dolores de cabeza intensos (especialmente con fiebre)
• Nueva pérdida del gusto u olfato
• Diarrea
• Vómitos o dolor abdominal

• Dolor de garganta

 

Le recordamos a todo el personal que use su cubre bocas en todo momento, y que mantenga 6 pies de distancia siempre que sea posible.
