- To be considered for a position, please submit the State of Texas Application and TSD Supplement to the HR office of the school for each position for which you wish to be considered. Each application should include the name of the position and the job posting number. If you are applying for a Teacher position, you are also required submit the Teacher Application Supplement and copies of all college transcripts with your application. Official or unofficial transcripts will be accepted during the application process, however, transcripts should show all coursework completed and include the applicant's identifying information e.g., name, date of birth, social security number, etc.
All of the required documents can be downloaded from the Job Applications page. Please do not submit multiple applications for the same position.
- Resumes or reference letters are not accepted in lieu of applications but may be included with the state application. Employment applications and supplemental forms must be filled out completely and signed. The EEO data form is used for evaluating labor statistics and will not be considered during any part of the employment process.
- Applications will only be considered for positions currently posted on the TSD website with the exception of substitute positions which can be applied for at any time, pending position availability.
- If a position is posted for a specific period of time, your complete application must be received in HR by 5PM on the closing date on the job posting. If the position is posted as "open until filled" it is recommended that you submit your application to Human Resources as soon as possible.
- Applicants for positions with a required level of education must provide copies of college transcripts and/or professional certificates to verify that they satisfy the minimum educational requirements.
- Applicants must demonstrate in the application how they meet the qualifications stated on the job posting. Only applications that satisfy the minimum qualifications listed on the job posting will be referred to the hiring department. The selecting supervisor will then review the application for evidence of the required and desired qualifications and will contact the most qualified applicants for interviews. All education, special skills, paid, and volunteer work should be clearly written in detail on the application in order to be considered.
- Texas School for the Deaf obtains criminal history records of applicants for employment or volunteer services with the school. The information that you provide on the Criminal History Authorization about age, sex, and ethnicity will not be used to determine eligibility for employment or volunteer services, but will be used solely for the purpose of obtaining consumer information, including criminal history information. Furthermore, information from consumer reports will not be used in violation of any applicable federal or state equal employment opportunity laws.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Not all applicants will be interviewed, only the most qualified applicants who most clearly demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and experience as required for the position will be interviewed. If selected for an interview, the applicant will be contacted directly by the hiring department, usually by telephone or email. It is important to keep a working phone number or email address on file with the Human Resources office for this reason. Additionally, we ask that you do not attempt to contact the selecting supervisor or department unless directed to do so; questions regarding the status of an application can be addressed to the Human Resources Department.
- You will receive notification regarding the status of your application once the position has been closed. This notification will be sent via email or postal mail to all applicants whose applications are still in consideration and have not yet been notified.
