hello to the members very excited about the simple event scheduled for October 1st very much wish I could be with you but I will be attending the gala that Ford meeting including the swearing-in events for Bobby pradana Carl asked me to summarize GSD legislative agenda for this upcoming 85th legislative session so here it is in a nutshell  we will be presenting five requests for exceptional items which basically 5 requests for increases in funding above our current baseball the first is to restore the mandatory 4% reduction that All State agencies were required to me we requested an exemption this mandatory reduction as a public education agencies expected it was not approved  yes we will make it our first priority restore These funds which is a million $447,800 the second exceptional item request is for additional instructional and support staff  as you know our student continues to grow and become more diverse including many students with special needs that require a lot of specialized Support Services trending it's just not sufficient to provide the kind of Staff support that we need we are requesting the variety sessions in this exceptional item from teachers counselors to IP facilitators and one-on-one support professional a total of 10.3 new positions for a total of 1 million $16 our third exceptional item is a request for dormitory furniture we really need to replace much of our room and bedroom Furnishings that have not been replaced since 1997  as you can imagine thousands of students have use this furniture over the past 14 years and the condition is currently not acceptable to providing a warm and welcoming home environment for Air Force exceptional item is a small amount of funds  $30,000 to assist our financial migration to the state tax system is the centralized County Cairo 1 Personnel system request and Reaper facilities identify add in our current master plan  during the previous 84th legislative session the Texas facilities Commission was awarded funds to prepare a master plan for the GSP campus we have been working in collaboration with PSC text ntfc  and seeking staff and Community input on the plan we will be a forty-four million dollar request based on the facility condition assessments the enrollment projections and the academics next needs identified in this first phase of the master plan the first phase includes a new toddler Learning Center renovations to Klinger Jam a new multi-purpose Auditorium and a Central Services building in fact this week Wednesday September 21st it will be an open Community Forum on the master plan at the estate we hope that all of you  I appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Tad we are better and stronger together as we move forward to ensure the deaf and hard-of-hearing students and adults have the best possible services in our state thank you
