Assignments
School Policy
Tardies and Absences: The tardy and absence policy in this class follows the school policy. Tests, quizzes, bellringer, or assignments cannot be made up unless the student has an excused absence(s). For unexcused absence, the assignments will be graded as zero. For excused absences, the assignments will be graded as “1” until the assignment is completed. Students have 5 days to submit an excuse note after that the 1 will become a 0.
Bathroom/office/hallway passes: To minimize distractions and interruptions, no passes will be given during the first fifteen minutes of class.
Food and Drinks:
Students may eat and drink during class IF they agree to keep their areas clean and dispose of trash appropriately. This is a privilege and may be revoked at any time by the teacher.
You may NOT eat and drink in the Lab.
Cheating/ Plagiarism consequences: No credit for the assignment or test in which plagiarism or cheating occurred and will lower participation grade. A discipline report will be filled out. There will be no chance for makeup.
Copying: If two or more people turn in homework that has been copied from each their grades will automatically be dropped to a 50% for that assignment. You may work together in a group, but the answers must be in your own words.
Electronic Device: Electronic devices such as smartphones, video games are not allowed in class. Smartphones are not to be visible and be placed in your backpack.
iPads and Laptops: Do not start using iPads when not prompted to and be engage in productive work when using laptops/iPads. Ipads are always used for instructional purposes- (no Netflix, video games and movies). Consequences will be lowered participation grade and possibly a discipline report.
Educational Trips
The purpose of educational trips in this course is designed to enhance the hands-on learning experiences and make real-world connections of content-based instruction from the classroom to the world.
These educational trips are to be regarded to be the same as a regular class, therefore absence policy & grade policy will apply. Note that the Academic Intervention Program (AIP) has specific rules regarding field trips for students who are placed in the program.
Soft Skills
There will be a soft skill rubric that I will compete at the end of the class daily and the soft skills will be graded at the end of the week. The soft skills will cover the 4 P’s:
- Punctual (arriving on time, time management, stays on task)
- Prepared (ready to learn, class materials, charged ipad, appropriate clothing for class)
- Productive (Work habits, follows routines, initiative, quality of work)
- Professional (Effective communication, work ethics, independent)
