Hi! I am Karen Henry and I have been a Career Counselor since 2004. I work with students (last names M-Z).  I enjoy working with our high school students, especially discussing their transition plans, career choices, class schedules, colleges, scholarships, and more.

I graduated from Indiana School for the Deaf, then received my B.A. degree in Psychology and M.A. degree in School Counseling from Gallaudet University.  Immediately after getting my masters degree, I worked as an Academic Advisor at Gallaudet University, in which I worked closely with college students for 5 years.  My career then shifted to being a full-time mother to my three children. Eventually, my family left DC metro area for Austin, TX. I slowly returned to the working world by being a substitute teacher at TSD’s Elementary Department for 5 years before moving into my current position as a Career Counselor.

My kids are currently in college, my husband and I have been enjoying our free time by doing outdoor activities like boating, kayaking, hiking with our dogs (in place of our kids), cooking, and re-decorating our home.

I would love to hear from you to discuss your child’s transition plan or answer any questions you may have.

Karen
