Hello! I’m Lori Taylor! I teach Career Preparation 1 in the Career & Technology Education department at Texas School for the Deaf.
I have B.A. in Hospitality & Food Service Management, and an M.A. in Human Resource Career Development from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology (NTID/RIT).
In my 9th years at TSD, I have been a teacher for Principles of Hospitality & tourism, Job Coach and a Culinary Arts Teacher in addition to my current position. Before coming to TSD, I co-owned D.T. Deaf Services in Rochester, NY for 10 years. I also have extensive experience in job placement and more than 15 years of experience in restaurant, hotel and corporate food service. I’ve worked in multiple food service locations such as a hospital, nursing home, Wheaton College, Lucent Technologies, RIT/NTID Cafeteria, and more. I’ve been in the food service industry since high school!
My husband, John, and I have two children, Dalton and Jayne. Currently, Dalton is Sophomore at Gallaudet University and Jayne is Freshman at TSD. I enjoy outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. I love to watch mystery and drama movies.
The best time to contact me is during my prep time, on M/W after 1:50pm or T/Th between 9 to 10 am or email me.
