Financial Aid/Scholarships

FINANCIAL AID

Financial Aid can be awarded by the government and by the institution of higher learning that you attend. The amount of financial aid offered is based on need and can come in the forms of grants or loans. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be completed as soon as October of the student's senior year.

The first step for both students and parents is to apply for a FAFSA ID and then start your FAFSA Application.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships come from a variety of sources, including from the college you plan to attend.  Be sure to fill out the scholarship application (if required) when you complete your application for admission.  Scholarships are awarded based on merit and/or need.  Money is typically distributed quickly, so waiting to apply for scholarships is not a good idea.

The Texas School for the Deaf community is generous with local scholarship opportunities.  Applications are available and are for seniors only. For information, please contact our career counselors, Alicia or Karen.
