Sports and history buffs!  The author of the book, "Strong Inside", will be visiting TSD on Mar 2.  Come to DSC at 1 pm to get his story and meet him!  His book can be preordered through PTSO.  It will be personalized and autographed.  The visit is arranged in partnership with BookPeople as part of the Readathon and all books sold help support future author visits!  Family and community members welcome to attend.  See attached order forms and flyer.

Andrew Maraniss will visit TSD! An Austin High School graduate, his book, a New York Times best seller, is a fast-paced, insightful biography of Perry Wallace - the inspirational true story of the first African American to play college basketball in the deeply segregated Southeastern Conference. Wallace’s story is a powerful moment in Black history and Civil Rights history.

Maraniss is a sports writer, former sports information director for Vanderbilt University’s baseball and basketball teams and former media relations manager for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. He continues to contribute to ESPN’s sports and race website, The Undefeated, and has appeared on national TV and radio programs (ESPN, NBC, MSNBC, NPR, SEC Network and more).
